Singhik a Beautifull Place in North Sikkim

Singhik is a small village close to Mangan town. You can get the most glorious views of Kunchanjunga from here. Situated at an altitude of over 5000ft, Singhik offers a desired break to the travellers on the way to Lachen or Lachung. For those having time, a half an hour's walk uphill takes you to an ancient monastery suspended in time.

A winding road from Singhik goes straight below and meets Tista river about 2 kms above the confluence of Rongyung Chu and Tista. Here you may cross river Tista and visited interiors of Sikkim such as Leek, Timbong and Kussong. However these destinations are mostly out of bound for leisure tourists.

Singhik offers mild weather. The temperature hovering between 15 to 20 degree for most of the tourist season. The monsoon months of July and August sees heavy rainfall in the area. The area also has a number of interesting short nature trails for one to three days along the higher ridges of the surrounding hills. One can also savour the most graceful peak in the world Mount Siniolchu.

In This New Year 2014 Enjoy Winter with Memorable Pelling Trip

Around 10 kms from Gyalshing (District Headquarter), Pelling is today emerging as the second biggest tourist destination in the state after Gangtok. Although in itself it is little more than a strip of road lined with hotels, its main USP is the breathtaking view it offers of the Khangchendzonga and surrounding ranges, as well as the easy access it provides to tourist spots in the area.

Pelling is a small town that is situated in the state of Sikkim in the West Sikkim region. The town is a laid back place and it attracts travelers from different parts of the country. Pelling is located near the foothills of Kanchenjunga and one can witness an outstanding view of the mountain from here. There are numerous scenic spots that one can visit in the area. The main attractions in the place are the monasteries that dot the countryside. Visiting these tranquil monasteries is a good way to spend time in the region. Some of the main places are Pemayansgtse Monastery and Sangachoeling Monastery. There are many sculptures and paintings that you can find in these places and they are not crowded. One can get a panoramic view from the Sangachoeling Monastery. If you are visiting during the month of January, you can see a dance called Cham in the Pemayansgtse Monastery.

The Sangay Waterfall is situated 10 kilometers from the town of Pelling and this is a good picnic spot. Another interesting place is the Kchehepalri Lake. The lake is present amidst dense forests and it is considered to be a holy place. It might also be worth checking the Rabdantsey Ruins.

Dzongri A Place with Great Mountains and Snowy Peaks

At an altitude of 4,200 m Dzongri is among the best trekking destinations not only in Sikkim but also in India. The sights of the milky white peaks all around Dzongri are bound to keep you gazing with awe. The view from this place has too much to be recommended : a patchwork of green and gold streaked with blue - reminiscent of an abstract etching, framed by the majestic snowcapped peaks shining not very far away.

The awesome presence of the great mountains thrusting their snowy peaks deciphers the strength of the Tethys Sea bulging its muscles to reach this towering height. No less than 14 of them soar majestically to 20,000 ft. plus. The centre of attraction of course remain the Kanchenjunga.

Snowfall is common especially during the winter months. The trekker should be well prepared to face the cold. The temperature may go below freezing point any time around the year.

The trek passes through moss laden, thickly forested ridges teeming with rich flora. Before culminating at the snowy heights of Kanchenjunga, it offers you a view of chestnut, oak, pine, maple and magnolia trees to name a few. An enchanting panorama of snow peaks forming an arc of 270 degrees through the azure sky. This is undeniably one of the most impressive treks in the region.

Plan Your New Year Eve 2014 at Nightingale Park Darjeeling

Nightingale Park locally known as Shrubbery Park is at a walk-able distance from Chowrasta or around 2 km from Darjeeling Market. It’s beautifully decorated with flowers and colorful lights surrounded by old pine trees. The park has a big statue of Hindu Lord Shiva and a Hindu Temple as well, best time to visit the park is from 4 pm to 8 pm as variety of traditional dance are performed daily during the tourist seasons. Visitors are charged with affordable entrance fees and little consideration is made for the students if the possess any type of identity cards. When cool air passes through your body with beautiful birds chirping around, completely close to nature gives makes us fell like we are in heaven.

There are shaded seating all around the boundary and there are many other benches that are placed inside the park. The tin shades over the benches have different bright colors like red, yellow, blue, orange etc. And there are garden lamps installed all across the park that have white spherical tops. In the evening, all these along with many multicolored hidden lights are illuminated, and the park becomes a wonderland of lights and trees.

Gurudongmar Lake One of the Highest Lakes in the World

At an altitude of over 17000ft close to the Tibet border lays Gurudongmar - one of the most sacred and pristine lakes in Sikkim. Vast plateau that crosses the Indo-Tibet border, green grassy field criss-crossed by thousands of snaky glacier fed streams with perennial snow covered slopes that rises from it mark the landscape of the region.

The name Gurudongmar is derived from the name of the Guru Padmasambhava who is thought to have visited Tibet through this area. Snow capped mountains close to the lake. The area is said to be blessed by Guru Padmasambhava. There is a temple of the Guru besides the lake. Devotee tourists as well as the Army personnel offer prayer at the temple.

It lies in the North side of the Khangchengyao Range and is encircled all around by snow-covered mountains, the sacred lake freezes during the winters except at one spot, which the devout believe has been specially blessed. The Chinese Tibetan boarder is just a few kilometres away from the lake.

Pedong Can Be Your Memorable Weekend Trip

Pedong stands on the old silk route that connected India and Tibet through Jelep La. This quaint little hill station is one of the few in North Bengal which an avalanche of tourists has not managed to spoil.

Nearly 22km from Kalimpong, Pedong is a picturesque hamlet situated on a ridge and surrounded by pine forests. It commands a majestic view of the Kanchenjungha.

The Teesta flows for almost the entire length of the journey from New Jalpaiguri to Pedong. We passed the Coronation Bridge, Kalimpong, Algaraha and several other tiny hamlets before reaching Pedong.

Near Pedong are the ruins of Damsang Gadi, a historical fort built in 1690 by the Lepchas. It was at the centre of the long-standing feud with the Dukpas of Bhutan. Later, it was used to ward off the forces of the British East India Company.  Another highlight of the town is the Cross Hill.
