Explore Beautiful Hill Stations Trip at Sikkim

Sikkim is a state in East India in the Himalayan foot hills also bordering China, Nepal and Bhutan. The name has been coined from the words 'Su','Him'i.e. beautiful home. Though it should be better named by abode of nature. The snow covered mountains & lush green valleys not only invigorates one's soul,it also leaves the spectators bewildered by the extravaganza of its natural beauty. Nearly 40% of the total area is forested. The Shangrila, the Mt. Kanchenjunga makes Sikkim a charming land representing a concoction of Buddhism and Tibetology. With Buddhism predominant in the state you will see many monasteries and ruby clad monks on your Sikkim tour.

What to See at Sikkim :

Monasteries :

The most visited monasteries in Sikkim are Rumtek, Pemayangtse, and Tashiding. Other monasteries that are worth visiting include the Karma Kagyu monastery with its 200 year old murals, the Enchey monastery, and the old Sanga-Choeling monastey.

Yuksam :

Yuksam was the first capital of Sikkim, where the first Chogyal of the Kingdom of Sikkim was consecrated in 1641 A.D. by three learned lamas. The evidence of the ceremony is still intact in Norbugang Chorten in the from of ston and a footprint of the head lama on a stone. It is also the base camp for all treks to Dzongri and Goechala.

Teesta River Rafting :

River Teesta or Tista is said to be the lifeline of the Indian state of Sikkim, flowing for almost the entire length of the state and carving out verdant Himalayan temperate and tropical river valleys. River rafting is relatively new in Sikkim. Graded on the international scale at Grade IV, the icy cold waters of the Teesta, with a series of rapids with varying intensity and character is one of the finest rafting stretches in the world. Ask us for an overnight camp by the river Teesta.
