Pelling is a picturesque town located in the district of West Sikkim. The town is at a distance of about 10 km from the district headquarters of Geyzing. Pelling covered with wild thick jungle providing hideouts and shelter to many indigenous wild animals of that period including Wildman. Slowly this gentle ridge attracted cattle herders, shepherds and some mediators allowing human habitation around it . This ridge being located in between two old Buddhist monasteries in took no long time to develop into a full fledged village named Pelling remained from the name of an old monastery Pemaling choeling . Today, this little village Pelling has become the best chosen tourist destination in Sikkim due to its scenic location and the advantage of having the closest view of world third highest mountain Mt. Khang –Chen-Dzonga and other snow peaks from here.

Pemayangtse Monastery: The Pemayangtse Monastery is a Buddhist monastery in Pemayangtse, near Pelling in the northeastern Indian state of Sikkim, located 140 kilometres west of Gangtok. Planned, designed and founded by Lama Lhatsun Chempo in 1705, it is one of the oldest and premier monasteries of Sikkim. It is not only one of the oldest monasteries of Sikkim but also the most famous in west Sikkim. There had been Guru Padmasambhawa the great tantric yogi, who lived in the 8th century was later introduced by Lhatsun Namkha Jigme. In this monastery, after they have the texts revealed by him, the treasure text hides of Guru Rempoche. In addition to this, the choreography of the sacred mask dances.
Sangachoeling Monastery: The Sanga Choeling Monastery, also spelt Sange Choeling Monastery, established in the 17th century by Lama Lhatsun Chempo, is one of the oldest monasteries in the Northeast Indian state of Sikkim. One can still enjoy the great views among tranquility even though Pelling has become a popular tourist destination with thousands of tourists visiting the place.
Khecheopalri Lake: Khecheopalri Lake is considered as one of the sacred lakes of Sikkim by the Hindus and Buddhists. The lake remains hidden in the forests. It is believed that birds do not permit even a single leaf to float on the lake surface. here is a motorable road from Pelling right up to the lake area.
