Murti is the name of a river flowing down from the Kalimpong hills. Murti as a place is situated besides the river between the Chapramari forest and Gorumara National Park. The place has come into prominance as a large number of private and government tourist accommodations are located here. The West Bengal Forest Development Corporatation has its forest bungalow "Banani" at Murti.

The possibility of catching a glimpse of wild animals like bison, deer, peacock and even leopard is great from the Jatraprasad watchtower. Lataguri is just 20 minutes drive from Murti. While Lataguri getting more and more conjusted and crowded, Murti on the other hand offers a calm and peaceful stay in the forest surroundings.

What to See at Murti:

Lataguri: Lataguri is a small town located in the Jalpaiguri district of Indian state of West Bengal. The village is located outside the Gorumara National Park on National Highway No. 31. Permits for entering Gorumara and Chapramari Wildlife Sanctuary are given from Lataguri. The village is one of the entry points of the park and one can visit the Nature Interpretation Center that is located here. You can get information on the various varieties of flora and fauna in the center.

Chalsa: Chalsa is a small town situated just on the foot of the Himalayas in the Duars in Jalpaiguri district in West Bengal. This small town is surrounded by hills, tea gardens, rivers and forests. Chalsa is the administrative headquarters of the Matiali community development block of the Malbazar subdivision of Jalpaiguri District. Surrounded by hills, tea gardens, free flowing streams and dense forests, the town was called Queen of Duars during the British regime.

You can also visit the interior of Gorumara National Park staying at Murti. On the other side of the river at a short distance is Panjhora river.
