Enjoy Puja Vacation at Dam Dim, The Barrons Tea Estate

Dam Dim falls under Malbazar subdivision in Jalpaiguri district, West Bengal, India. It is famous for tea gardens and moist deciduous forests. This Place is in the border of the Jalpaiguri District and Darjeeling District. Darjeeling District Gorubathan is North towards this place. Dam Dim this is a place in the lap of Dooars, situated about 50 kms from Siliguri and about 6kms from Malbazar.

Dam Dim is famous for tea gardens, landscapes and moist deciduous forests. Travelers can enjoy riot of colours. The many hues of the autumn bloom stood out perfectly against the background of rain washed green of the tea plants.

The 150 year old heritage Tea Gardeen Bunglo named as "burra sahib bunglow " is another attraction here. This place was happens to be the residence of the manager of Dam Dim Tea Estate. Now the burra sahibs are gone but efforts are underway to restore the bungalows to their past glory and give the well-heeled traveler a taste of the planter’s lifestyle.

The other attraction of Dam Dim is the Western Dooars Club once the hub of the planter’s social life. Its great institution features a teak dance floor, a billiards room, a lavish kitchen, a bar and of course sprawled alongside it, an 18-hole golf club.  The burra sahibs and the mem sahibs have left and along with them have gone the glitz and glamour of the lavish balls and the stylish do’s. The inside is dark and dreary and the curtains over the French windows are heavy with dust and spiders. The seemingly endless golf course is deserted and overgrown and watched over by the faint outline of the mountains, visible through the mist like a distant memory.

At Dam Dim, there are lush flowering gardens to stroll, benches among the bushes, a garden swing for two, winding walking paths, a covered gazebo, and even a tree house that offers a glorious bird’s eye view of the tea fields that stretch out for miles. Dam Dim Rail Way Station, Oodlabari Rail Way Station are the very nearby railway stations to Damdim. How ever New Jalpaiguri Rail Way Station is major railway station 33 KM near to Damdim

By Air:

Airport close to the town is Civil Enclave Bagdogra.

Enjoy the Natural Beauty of River and Hill Valley from Gorubathan

Gorubathan is a small town in the Kalimpong subdivision of Darjeeling district in West Bengal, India. It is situated on the east bank of river Neora, just 50 kilometer road distance from Siliguri. Locally, Gorubathan is known as Sombare. The name "Sombare" is comes from the name of Indian day "Sombar" (Monday). In every Monday, a haat (weekly village market) is organized at Gorubathan. So, Gorubathan is famous for the day name ("Sombare") to local people. The town is popular for its natural beauty and there are various sites in and around the place that travelers can visit. Summer is the best time to visit in Gorubathan, due to its warm and pleasant weather but in winter it is very cold.

Gorubathan is situated on the east bank of the chel river. There are ruins of a fort known as Dalim Fort on the top of a hill near Gorubathan. Gorubathan is known for its beautiful landscape of the Neora river, mountains and forests, which attract a lot of tourists.

Tourist Attractions at Gorubathan:

The landscape of the area is unique as the hills meet the plains here. Chel riverbed is a good location for picnickers and nature lovers. The drive from Damdim to Gorubathan first passes through some of the most beautiful tea gardens of Dooars including Ranichera, Rangamati and Sylee. Just before Gorubathan the Fagu Khola, Runjung Khola and Chel Khola meet to form River Chel. On the other side of the river is the picturesque Pathorjhora tea garden.

The road from Gorubathan towards Lava is also beautiful. The first few kilometers you will be travelling through tea gardens with Chel river on your left. The road continues through Faforkheti, This is a small village and a picnic spot for the locals. The picturesque village has the potential to become a tourist attraction. Further ahead on the road is Lava, a day trip to the famous tourist destination can easily be organised from Gorubathan.

Transport to go:

Gorubathanis about 50 km from Siliguri and about 90 km from Kalimpong. From Siliguri, you can access 31 national highway till Damdim. From Damdim a road to the north goes to Lava through Gorubathan.

By Road:
National Highway No.31 between Siliguri and Guwahati passes over Damdim. From Damdim to Lava have district road, which pass through Gorubathan. North Bengal State Transport Corporation Buses, Bhutan Govt. Buses, Mini Buses, Private Buses and Taxi are available from Siliguri to Gorubathan. Journey time from Siliguri to Gorubathan is about 1 hours 30 minutes.

By Rail:
Nearest railway station to Gorubathan is New Jalpaiguri. New Jalpaiguri and Siliguri Railway Station are main railway station in this area. After you arrive at New Jalpaiguri or Siliguri, you should follow the road journey to reach at Gorubathan.

By Air:
Nearest airport is Bagdogra. It is a domestic airport under Indian Army. All major air services are available from all over India. Distance between Bagdogra and Siliguri is 13 km. You can find out various vehicles to come in Siliguri, and then follow the above road route.

Malbazar is also known as Mal. Now this is a sub-divisional town, having its own municipality in Jalpaiguri district, Located in Northern part of the State of West Bengal. It is about 65 km from Jalpaiguri town. For its positional advantage Malbazar is gaining its tourist attraction day by day. Before 1947 Malbazar was a very small place, mainly known for its tea gardens mostly owned by British people. Those tea gardens had a few Bengali white collar employees and the work force consisted of tribal people. Actually in yester years this place was a market for the Tea Garden workers and Planters surrounding to this place. The word Mal means Goods and Bazar means Market.

On your way to Malbazar, beautiful Teesta River which has a peculiar feature of changing colors every season will stay beside you. The town of Malbazar has a beautiful tea garden of Raja Tea Estate and a nice Mal Park. Malbazar can also be used as a base to visit nearby forests like Gorumara, Chapramari, Chukchukia and others. You can also make day trips to Jhalong, Bindu, Paren and other nearby destinations from here. On your way to Malbazar, you will cross a few forests and come across the famous Sevokeshwari temple and Coronation Bridge.

Malbazar is the most important town in Western Dooars area. All the tourist destinations of Western Dooars can be accessed from Malbazar within a drive of an hour or less. The town itself does not offer many tourist attractions.

Mongpong overlooking River Teesta and Mahananda Wildlife sanctuary located on Sevoke Road falls en route to Malbazar. Beside, there are various forests like Chapramari, Gorumara, Chalsa, Khunia and Chukchikia located all around Malbazar. Other nearby places of attraction includes Jhalong located on the banks of Jaldhaka River and Bindu near the Indo-Bhutan border. The twin villages of Suntaleykhola and Samsing perched within dense greenery on the banks of rivulets can also be visited on day trips from Malbazar. You can also arrange a picnic on the banks of River Murti.

How to reach Malbazar:

If you are traveling from Kolkata, you need to board the Kanchankanya Express from Sealdah and reach New Mal Junction station. This train departs from Sealdah on daily basis. You can also reach New Jalpaiguri station from where, you can board a car or a bus to reach Malbazar.

Bakthang Waterfalls an Eco-Friendly Spot In Gangtok

Bhakthang Falls-Bakthang Falls is one of the beautiful falls in sikkim. It is one of the favourite falls for the domestic tourist,they love to take pictures in front of falls and i heard many tourist saying it as best falls in sikkim. Kabi Lungchok is a historic site of significance, which is located 17 kilometres (11 mi) north of Gangtok on the Northern Highway in northeastern Indian state of Sikkim. The historicity of the site is attributed to the fact that the Lepchas, the ethnic tribals of Sikkim and Bhutias (ethnic Tibetans), the immigrants from Tibet who settled down in Sikkim from the 14th century onwards, ceremonially signed a "Treaty of Blood Brotherhood" with religious fervour. Stone pillars mark the location where the treaty was signed. The Treaty was signed at Kabi Lungchok by the Tibetan King, Khye Bumsa representing the Bhutias and the Lepcha Chief Thekong Tek. The literal meaning of 'Kabi Lungchok', pronounced ‘Kayu sha bhi Lungchok’, is "stone erected by our blood."

Rongo Hill Beauty Yet To Be Unveiled

Rongo Perched on the top of a hill at an altitude of 4500 ft near the Bhutan boarder, Rongo or Rongu serve as the Headquarter of Cinchona Plantation under Kalimpong subdivision. Now Cinchona plantation is gradually giving way to rubber plantation. A tiny remote village having a market, post office and few houses in its locality, Rongo used to be a significant place for plantation and growing medicinal plants. Rongo offers fine-looking views of adjoining hills, dense forests and river valley of Jaldhaka.

One can reach from Bagdogra Airport or New Jalpaiguri Railway Station viar Siliguri along national highway 31 i.e. Dooars crossing Chalsa and turning left at Khunia More via Chapramari, Sepchu, Gairibas. From Gairibas an uneven motorable road turns towards left to Rongo nearly 7 kilometers to Rongo.
