Yuksom trip, Rich Cultural and Natural Heritage of Sikkim

The name “Yuksom” means the meeting place of three Lamas. Yuksom is a historical town in Geyzing subdivision of West Sikkim district in the Northeast Indian state of Sikkim. For the Bhutia tribal community of Sikkim, Yuksom has special religious and cultural significance.

Yuksum today is an attractive tourist destination and the base for some of the most exciting treks in the region. You can also visit the beautiful Khecheopalri Lake considered holy by the Sikkimese. Yuksom is also the entry point of the Khangchendzonga National Park. Yuksom is the base camp for various trekkers and the mountain climbing course organized by the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute.
