Jorpokhri
is a tiny place on a hilltop and located in Darjeeling district. From
Darjeeling town, it is about 19kms and can be reached from the road to Mirik. The
presence of a couple of lakes in this area gave rise to the name of this place
Jorpokhri. The lakes are the main attraction in this place and the view of
Kanchenjunga through the pine forest in clear weather and also of the beautiful
Darjeeling town. Being close to the Nepal border one can visit the Pashupati
market there.
Nearby Attractions at
Jorpokri: It is a
wonderfully landscaped hilltop with the view of Darjeeling and Kurseong on one
side and the entire Kanchendzonga range on the other side. The famous
Darjeeling, Mirik and Lepchajagat are nearby, easily accessible if you hire a
car. Other attractions are Sukhiapokhri, Pashupati Nath Market, Kurseong,
Simana, Senchal Forest Area and the Tea Gardens all along.

Jorepokhri: Enjoy the
views of Mt. Kanchenjunga, enjoy the adjacent forests and trip to Mirik and
Darjeeling. You can also drop at Pashupati Nath market of Nepal. You can also
feed the geese swimming in the pokhri.
Pashupati
Nath Market located on the India Nepal border. Shree Pashupatinath Temple is a
Hindu temple located on the shore of the Bagmati River on the eastern part of
Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. There is also a large market in the streets
surrounding the temple.
How to reach Jorpokhri: Jorpokhri is about 19 kms from
Darjeeling town center. From Ghoom take the road to Sukhiapokhri that leads all
the way to Mirik. Sukhiapokhri is about 11kms from Ghoom and Jorpokhri is
another 2kms from there. You will need to book a car from Darjeeling taxi stand
and it takes little over 1 hour by road. From Mirik it takes about 1 hour drive
to reach Jorpokhri via the Pashupati Nath Market located on the India Nepal
border. From Siliguri, distance to Jorpokhri is 85kms.

Jorpokri: October
to March if you are seeking beautiful views of Mt. Kanchenjungha June – August
(Rainy Season) if you want to share a glimpse of the Himalayan Salamanders.
