Beautiful Forest Trip at Buxa Tiger Reserve this Durga Puja 2013


Buxa Tiger Reserve is situated in Alipurduar Sub-division of Jalpaiguri District, West Bengal. Buxa Tiger Reserve officials are planning to introduce car safaris and open new trekking and boating routes in the forest to attract more visitors in the coming tourist season starting from October.


This Tiger Reserve comprises the forest area of Rajabhatkhawa, Nimati, Barobisha, Rydak, Raimatang Jainti, Buxaduar and Bhutanghat. The main rivers are Sankosh, Raidak, Jayanti, Churnia, Turturi, Phashkhawa, Dima and Nonani. Buxa is rich with bio-diversity and has a great collection of rare orchids and medicinal plants.


Places to See at Buxa Tiger Reserve:


Rajabhatkhawa: Rajabhatkhawa is an ideal place to visit for those who are looking to experience nature and enjoy the wildlife and the lush green forests all around. The town is known for its beautiful landscape which is predominantly green owing to the thick forests which borders it from all sides. Rajabhatkhawa is a good place to visit the nearby places of tourist interest.


Buxa Fort / Buxa Duar: Buxa Fort In the history of Indian Independence, Buxa Fort played the most sadistic role for the Indian Freedom Fighters. The Buxa National Park is a perfect stopover for tourists, who want to savor the flavor of green darkness, enriched with some exotic wildlife. There are couples of small accommodations for overnight stay.


Jayanti Village: Joyonti is a small forest village within Buxa Tiger Reserve in Jalpaiguri district of West Bengal, India. It is located along the Jayanti River, forming a natural border with the Bhutan hills. You can also go inside the forest with the forest permission and accompanied by a guide. Jayanti riverbed is the site for a number of Bengali and Hindi movies.


How to Reach.....

By Road:
Its southern boundary touches the National Highway No.31C. Visitors may get private cars to start from Alipurduar and go to Buxa Tiger Reserve Forest easily. The proper road connectivity of Alipurduar with nearby cities Darjeeling, Siliguri and various other North Bengal cities is a good option.

By Rail:
Alipurduar Junction / New Alipurduar in the nearest railway station at a distance of 17 Kilometers. Check for the trains as all not stop or arrive at this station. This area’s main railway station is New Jalpaiguri Railway Station from where trains can be changed or road journey started to reach this place.

By Air:
Bagdogra is the nearest airport which is mainly a domestic one meant for the air force with limited operation for private airlines. This airport connects the area with the major Indian cities. Both Bagdogra and Siliguri cities are located at a distance of 13 kilometers. Many cab services are available from Siliguri to connect to the road route to reach here.
