Rasikbil or
Rasikbeel is situated at the foothill of Sintura Hill of the great Himalaya in
the Coochbehar district of West Bengal. It is basically low water land (Bil or
Bill) or swamp, where water may be available all over the year. There are five
such a kind of low water land or marshland, namely, Neeldaba, Bochamari,
Raichangmari, Shankhadanga and Rasikbil. These attract a lot of birds which
make nests in the trees around this area. And a Bird Sanctuary is grown up with
175 hector area. Besides the bill a tribal village is also there. The unending
blue sky and the vast expanse of the lake and the forest merge together and
create a wonderful scene that will remain in your minds for years. The main
attractions of Rasikbil are the various species of migratory birds which come
here during every winter season and go back to their country when spring
arrives.
Tourists
who loved to watch the local birds and migratory birds; Rasik Bill is the ideal
place for them. It is a eco-tourist spot situated just one and a half hour of
drive from Alipurduar town. Main attraction of that area is anvifauna in and
around Rasikbil. And as a bonus, there are a large aquarium, a dear park, a
crocodile rehabilitation center, a tortoise rescue center and many more. And you
can enjoy boating in the Rasikbil.
From
Rasikbil, you can go on a day visit to the famous Buxa Tiger Reserve (About 40
kms). There is a forest at Rasikbil that is part of the buffer area of the
tiger reserve. The historically significant town of Coochbehar can also be
visited on a day outing. Coochbehar town through Tufanganj is about 45 kms
away.
