Rocky Island, the Beauty of an Exotic Natural Trip at Dooars

Rocky Island is a new tourist destination in Dooars. Situated on the banks of the River Murti is about 2 km from Samsing and is a popular camping site. Murti River flows through the destination. The place is surrounded by hills and ideal for land base adventure activities like trekking, rock climbing & rappelling. The campsite provides an excellent opportunity to explore the rich biodiversity and its abundant avifauna of the lower part of Neora Valley National Sanctuary.

The place is adorned with the views of massive large rocks like Neel kanta, Pathar Kailas, Bhimsen, Hansdunga etc provides easy climbing practice for everyone with riverside cave to complete the adventure. A small enjoyable trek to nearby spots like Sherpagaon, Bhalukope, Jhandidara and Mo-chuki is an added attraction of this place.

Samsing: Situated at an elevation of 3000ft, Samsing is a nice cool shady place, ideal for nature lovers. This is about 2 km from Rocky Island. If you want to savor the beauty of an exotic natural surrounding in an untouched rural corner of the Darjeeling District of West Bengal, the pristine hill village of Samsing amidst forests and tea gardens will be your ideal destination.

Suntalekhola: Suntalekholais about 
four kilometers further up the road from Samsing. Suntalekhola is a nice place to visit if you are in Dooars. The green patch on the left side of the way to Suntalekhola is amazing and holds many rarities of birds and butterflies.





Neora Valley National Park: The Neora Valley National Park covers a total area of virgin forest, rich in biodiversity located in the Eastern Himalayas. Its floral diversity is noteworthy with mixed species of rhododendrons, bamboo, sal etc.

How to Reach: Nearest Airport: Bagdogra Nearest Rail Station: Malbazar, NJP Nearest Road: NH31 Samsing is located at a distance of 82 km. from Siliguri and it takes around 3 hours to reach from Siliguri. The journey to Samsing is truly admirable, as you gradually drive uphill through the scenic Dooars tea garden on the rolling hilly slopes. However, it is better for tourists from Kolkata to get down at New Mall Junction which is only 19 kms from Samsing. Cars can be hired from New Mall Junction for Samsing.

Attractions of Beautiful Grassland Trip at Lataguri

Lataguri is a small town located in the Jalpaiguri district of Indian state of West Bengal. Lataguri is one of the villages that are located along the periphery of the Gorumara National Park. The village is one of the entry points of the park and one can visit the Nature Interpretation Center that is located here. The grassland of Gorumara & Lataguri is famous for Asiatic one-horned rhino and other wild animals.

In view of its great diversity of plants and animals it was declared as a National Park. Some of the animals that can be seen here are elephants, rhinoceros, sambar deer, bison, gaur, hispid hare and leopard.

Lataguri is the base for your tour to Gorumara National Park. River Murti, Jaldhaka and Ingdong have passed through this national park. In the year 1949, Gorumara Forestwas declared as wildlife sanctuary when it was a small forest. Tourism around Gorumara started in Lataguri and its surrounding area although today large number of tourist accommodation has come up all around the forest including in Murti, Ramsai and other area. Even today most tourists prefer to stay around Lataguri.

How to reach at Lataguri:

By Rail Way: Nearest railway is New Mal Jn railway Station (NMZ). It will take 2,5 hrs to reach Lataguri by car from New Mal Jn.

By Air: Nearest Airport is Bagdogra (IXB). By car it will take approx 3 hrs to reach Lataguri from Bagdogra.

By Road: Lataguri can be reached from Siliguri by various hired vehicle in roughly 3 hours.
