Tsomgo Lake Is Famous Tourist an Attraction in Sikkim

Tsongmo Lake or Changu Lake

Tsongmo Lake or Changu Lake is a glacial lake in the East Sikkim, India, some 40 kilometres away from Gangtok at altitude of 3,780 m. The road to Nathu La passes the lake on north side. The lake remains frozen throughout the winter up to April end. Snowfall is also common in this area even during the summer months.

The best place to look for travellers to share the trip with is in new Modern Lodge. They actually arrange the tours themselves. The lake is so beautiful especially on a clear day. If the weather condition is perfect, you could even see a clear reflection of the snow-capped mountains on the lake.

Nathu La: Nathu La is a mountain pass in the Himalayas. It connects the Indian state of Sikkim with China's Tibet Autonomous Region. The other side of Nathula Pass is Chumbi Valley of Tibet. This mountainous pass is one of the oldest trading border posts connecting Tibet and India. The Nathula Pass is marked by Entrance gates of both countries (India and China) and military bunkers on both sides of the gates.

Babamandir: Baba Mandir near Tsono lake and Nathula Pass is a sightseeing place near Gangtok. This “mandir” or shrine is dedicated to “Baba” Harbhajan Singh, who was a soldier of the Indian Army. He died near the Nathula Pass in eastern Sikkim, India. At this much height our Indian Army serves to all visitors free of cost. Here you will find Yaks, during snow-fall local peoples will conduct Yak-safari for tourist.

Lhasa Falls: Those of us who follow the Nathu La developments also will point out that we have been waiting for an announced bus line between Gangtok and Lhasa since 2006. The Sikkim government is keen to open a Lhasa–Gangtok bus service via Nathula pass. From there we went to the Lhasa Falls. It was a small waterfall. By that time the sun was up again and it was clear and bright.
